I worked closely with the marketing department to develop a web experience that fits all the needs of the performing arts organization as they continue to present world-class performances and build a center for culture in their community. We aimed for more than just a new coat of paint to refresh the look and functionality. The new site needed to communicate a sense of place and their non-profit status to users while being easy for information to be distributed on the back-end with limited redundancies. The previous state of The Zeiterion’s web presence was cluttered and inconsistent; It required extra steps to achieve tasks and update crucial information in the back-end. With this latest iteration, we reviewed ways to optimize distribution of information and eliminate barriers to purchase throughout, along with implementing seamless new ways to offer additional products and services.
This phrase is a philosophy in the organization to express that while they offer more services and have a reputation beyond what's on stage, how people are introduced to the theatre is through that first ticket, whether it be for a rock show, Broadway musical, field trip, or holiday family tradition. That means every performance has the opportunity to be someone's first experience with the theater that could lead to another hundred visits, or new tradition, or philanthropic donation. The team carried that ideal throughout developing the web experience. Making sure the quality is at a level deserving of that spark.
With fewer and fewer physical tickets being delivered to patrons as the organization moves to a more sustainable future with online and digital ticketing there was a desire to preserve elements of that tactile experience. Incorporating that with their philosophy inspired the journey that the event's tickets will come along with the user on their exploration of the site. Starting on the landing page, entice them through the events list, and guide patrons as they learn more about each performance available, before making their purchase decision.
